Robert Levine
Robert Levine is the founder of the Psycho-Physical Balance Therapy
Program, a 20 year experienced teacher with the T'ai Chi Foundation
and faculty member of Villa Julie College, Baltimore, MD. He has
been internationally recognized for his innovative design of senior
gait and balance programs. He served on the Pennsylvania Commission
on Agingšs Fall Prevention Task Force and was co-author of the exercise
manual that they utilize in their elder-care centers. He is also
co-author of a chapter on T'ai Chi Chuan in a forthcoming textbook
on complementary medicine edited by Mary Ann Bright, EdD, RN, CS,
to be published by F.A. Davis and Co. Psycho-Physical Balance Therapy
has demonstrated effectiveness in restorative and preventive care
programs in a year long study at Keswick Multi-Care Center in Baltimore,
MD.
A study for the National Institute on Aging and the National Center
for Nursing Research showed that patients engaging in therapy based
on T'ai Chi Chuan had nearly 50% less falls, significantly lower
loss of grip strength and had reduced systolic blood pressure.
Psycho-Physical Balance Therapy can be effectively integrated into
your practice to enhance and enrich the lives of seniors and can
be used by Activity Directors, Physical Therapists, Occupational
Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses and Nursing Assistants.
